We are HOME . . . apologies to all . . .

Filed under: Travel — Amy @ 3:04 am

Everyone, we are HOME. Wow, it was a long trip.

It feels great to be home, but I have to say we really did have a wonderful three months. One of my few regrets . . . that I wasn’t able to update this blog often while gone. The blog via email option which I thought I had successfully set up before leaving did not continue to function. Why I don’t know but will be checking into it in the next few days. I’ll also be taking a bit of time to fill you all in on the details of our journey. And I further promise to update the Plus Size World website with all the latest deals and promotions as soon as possible. :-) But for now I’m headed off to my very own comfortable bed to snuggle up to my very own favorite pillow. :-)

Goodnight.

Greetings from India

Filed under: Travel — Amy @ 11:19 pm

Hello all.

We arrived here in India some ten days back and have now had ample time to recover from our bout of jet lag.

Our first few days were spent in the small village of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh state in southern India. It was in Hindupur that we celebrated Divali. We have since moved on to Anantapur, a bit larger town also in Andhra Pradesh state in southern India. And it is Anantapur where we are now.

The kids and I are enjoying our trip, although I am at this time beginning to miss a few things from home. :-) Most of all . . . I miss a nice COLD drink. They drink a lot of coffee and hot tea here. We, of course, have plenty of water to drink. As addicted as I have been to Diet Coke, it is not the thing I miss most. I would be happy even with a glass of nice cold ice water. There is not much which can be found ice cold in India, even cola when found is not normally served with ice.

We will be going on to Bombay soon and will be able to find almost anything we desire there. It has now been almost five years ago that I spent almost six months in Bombay while working on the adoption of our twin girls. I am very familiar with Bombay and quite comfortable there. As I have told the kids, we will even find McDonald’s and Domino Pizza there. Believe me, I am holding this over their heads. :-) It is proving to be quite the incentive.

Until later,
Amy

Last minute packing.

Filed under: Travel — Administrator @ 1:02 am

The kids and I leave tomorrow evening for India so tonight I’m up late
finishing up the packing. We don’t leave until evening, but we’ve got a
two hour drive by car to Los Angeles and then need to be to the airport
three hours early as is recommended for international flights. I was
trying to make things easy on myself and had decided I would be taking
only two large suitcases. One for clothing and our other necessities and
the other to hold gift for friends and family. And I would have made it
too if I could have kept the hubby home and out of the stores. He drug
home more stuff again tonight. I am now up to two large suitcases and
three carry-on size, plus he’s got each kid packing a backpack of toys
and their own personal goodies! Yikes! I just pray that when we get to
Mumbai all kids are awake and alert and ready to help out.

At Mumbai we must collect our luggage and go through Indian customs and
clearances, then board another flight to Bangalore. Family are meeting
us in Bangalore so that won’t be a problem, but I do worry a bit about
Mumbai. There should be porters who can help. There were last time, so
hopefully things will be the same this time.

I’ve set up “post by email” to this blog so I should have no problem
keeping this updated as we travel. :-)
