I just love Indian made salwar kameez. They are so extremely comfortable to wear. While in India five years ago I had a half dozen sets made and continued to wear them long after our arrival back home.
The suits made five years ago are now nearly in shreads. I wanted another
couple of outfits, something special, to wear for the Indian Divali
festival which will take place within days of our arrival in India later
this week. My size is too large to be common in India so I cannot just buy
something off the rack. There are tailors on almost every block who will
stitch a custom size, but I knew I wouldn’t have time to get this done
before Divali. So I ordered off of eBay.
The place from which I ordered has good feedback but I am having a bit of
a problem with them at the moment. It is an honest mistake and I am half
responsible for the problem myself. When I paid for these two items (the
first time) I accidentally left our old address which is Nebraska instead
of California. I hit cancel and thought I had cancelled the transaction in
time. It was only after making the payment again using the correct address
that I realized the first payment went through as well.
I emailed, explaining the problem with the double payments, asked for a
refund and was clear to tell them to send it to California. They were
quick to send the refund, but they did not send my package to California.
My package has been delivered to our old address approximately 1500 miles
away in Nebraska. It’s already been dropped off. UPS can do nothing as far
as picking it up again and re-routing unless the instruction comes from
the sender. Communication between myself and the sender is slow because
they are asleep in India while I am awake and vice versa. How am I ever
going to get this package within the next five days before we leave?
After pondering for far too long trying to think of what to do. Trying to
remember neighbors names who might be able to check on it. Trying to look
up names on the Internet using reverse lookup, etc. Finally I took a break
from all the thinking to call my husband, who is out of town for business,
to see what time he returns today. And it dawned on me . . . my husand is
in Lincoln! [Smacks head.]
I honestly don’t know where my head was, maybe it’s this cold/flu or
whatever it is that I’ve got and the meds I’m taking but obviously I am
not thinking straight.
My call to the hubby was too late and he was already on the way to the
airport to catch his flight and running late so he could not go by the
house. Darn! But he had a friend whom he would ask to check on it. This
friend comes to California often and could bring it later. I was screaming
to be heard. (Remember I have no voice this week as a result of being
sick.) I need it by Thursday! Hubby wasn’t getting it! OK. Finally I give
up. Later will be fine. That’s just the way life goes sometimes. :-\
But then, the hubby calls back and his flight has been cancelled.
What
fate! He’s not too happy about having to wait to come home, but he has
plenty of time now and hopefully I can get my package. [Fingers crossed.]
I will keep everyone informed.
